Andrey Doynikov

Andrey Doynikov was born in 1981 in Moscow, Russia. He studied percussion with Mark Pekarsky in Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and piano with Vladimir Tropp at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. During his studies he won several international competitions and became laureate of the “Triumph Young Prize” (2001) ”“ highest Russian independent prize for young artists. Since 1995 he has appeared at numerous major venues such as Alte Ope Frankfurt, London Guildhall, Tokyo Opera Hall, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Great Halls of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg and many others, performing solo and ensembles with such honorable musicians as Mstislav Rostropovich, Yuri Bashmet, Bobby McFerrin and others.

Andrey Doynikov composed a number of chamber and orchestral pieces, together with over 25 soundtracks for motion pictures and TV. Since 2007 he regularly appears as conductor with orchestras and ensembles from Russia and Europe.

Since 2008 Andrey Doynikov has studied percussion at Detmold High School of Music (Germany) with Prof. Peter Prommel, also working as assistant marimba teacher and assistant conductor for Percussion Ensemble and New Music Ensemble of HfM Detmold. In 2013 he received an Artist Diploma with Merit as Marimba Soloist. He is currently pursuing his studies as a conductor, at the same time working as Artistic Director and Conductor of the New Music Ensemble of Hochschule.
